When a health question comes up, it's not always easy to know what to do next. Should you wait to see your provider? Visit urgent care? Or is it something you can manage at home? The 24-Hour Nurse Line is available through your Aetna® plan and can help you make informed decisions, so you can get the right care when you need it.

Why use the 24-Hour Nurse Line?

The 24-Hour Nurse Line lets you talk to a registered nurse and get trusted answers to health questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They can also help you:

  • Learn whether home care may be enough or if you should see a provider
  • Avoid unnecessary trips to the emergency room when appropriate
  • Get guidance when your provider's office is closed
  • Feel more confident about your care decisions

It has details about your personal coverage and how to make the most of your plan. You can find the website on your Aetna Member ID card.

What can you call about?

You can call with questions about minor health concerns. This might include:

  • Cold, flu or allergy symptoms
  • Medications or possible side effects
  • Minor illnesses or injuries like a cough or sore throat
  • Ongoing condition management, such as diabetes or heart disease
  • Whether you should see your primary care provider, visit urgent care or go to the emergency room

Virtual care from anywhere

Your plan also has a covered telehealth benefit, which makes it easy to connect with a health care provider by phone or video. Telehealth is a convenient option for many common health concerns like cold or flu symptoms, allergies, skin conditions, prescription refills and more. Ask your provider if they have a telehealth option. For more plan information, log in to your secure member website at AetnaMedicare.com/LG.

How do you contact Nurse Line staff?

You can contact a health care professional 1-855-493-7019 (TTY: 711) to speak to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Remember: If you have chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke or another life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away.

* While only your doctor can diagnose, prescribe or give medical advice, the 24-Hour Nurse Line can provide information on a variety of health topics.
